Valentine’s Day morning I spent with Alex and we decided to have a delicious breakfast consisting of jalapeño cheddar biscuits and breakfast sausage. It was a great start to my day despite the fact that I’m not really a breakfast person - but it was a really fun activity (we know I love to cook/bake) Later that day, Alex took my on an old-fashioned (and socially distanced)date to the movie theaters. We went to see “Promising Young Women'' per the recommendation of Alamo Draft house theater. It was really bad for a Valentine’s Day movie, and maybe bad for a movie in general. I’m not someone who likes to go to the theaters because I don’t think it’s worth it – but it’s been a long time since I went to go out regardless so I thought it could be a fun date idea. It’s hard to have a bad day with Alex, but the movie really made it almost unbearable. The movie was supposed to be this comedy horror that discussed themes of rape and revenge and it was really discomforting. Regardless Alex and I still spent the rest of the day together and had a really enjoyable Valentine’s Day. We planned to go out for dinner but because of the storm that was coming and we felt like it was a little dangerous to go out, so we decided to cook lasagna at home and it turned out amazing. We also had an a little painting time and made some cute Valentine's day themed paintings. They can now be found on my shelf side-by-side in my room. That night it started snowing just a little bit and we were so excited that we went outside and tried to make horrible snow angels. Little did we know that when we woke up in the morning the entire city of Austin would be covered in inches and inches of snow. Class being canceled and already having the day off work, Alex and I spent the day with his roommates sledding down the streets of Austin. It was a really enjoyable couple of days until of course things got a little more troublesome. Food was becoming hard to come by, as was heat and water. There was a lot of group effort to enjoy the days off of school and work but it was sad to know that some people were really struggling. We try to make the most of it and take a positive outlook on this new found free time. We spent a lot of time traveling between my apartment and Alex’s house and to be honest I found that extremely enjoyable considering the beautiful scenery. We even played beer di in the snow with Alex and his roommates and that was honestly a highlight of the week for me. !We also made beer bread far too many times but my roommates really seem to enjoy it Things obviously eventually went back to normal, but it was definitely an interesting couple of days to say the least. Alex ended up having to essentially move into my apartment because of what started out as a need for running water turned into a quarantine away from Covid. Making breakfast for him every morning will be missed.
